Helmut, a dedicated endurance rider and part time farrier was fed up with ever rising expenses in curing hoof problems and all the side effects caused by using metal shoes. He was advised by his Vet that nothing more could conventionally be done to save his favourite horse. This sparked Helmut into action. He began his research in the early 90’s in his home town Fulda, Germany. After several years of study, trial and error he finally achieved and completed what is known today as the ultimate in hoof protection – MARATHONS™ - which are second to none. Over the last 100 years many attempts have been made to find an alternative to metal shoes. These attempts failed because of the under development of the material. Helmut aware of these failures formulated a new high tech material which is light, shock absorbent and long lasting. Today MARATHONS™ remains a genuine horse shoe, whereas other synthetic shoes have come and gone.
